Alexander Technique in Education
More and more children today are exhibiting poor posture as we see it, along with back and neck aches becoming the normal for most. It is a sign of our poor level of functioning and contributes to many of the common problems that many children are suffering. This seems to have become a hallmark of most people (not just children) of today. The good news is that it doesn't have to be this way and it is possible to restore the level of freedom that we once had as small children.
As outsiders, most tend to look upon this as poor posture and suggest to our children to "sit up straight", however it is much more than this and not so easily resolved. How many people attempt to sit upright only to find after a few minutes that they return to the habitual pattern as the muscles used start to tire, or simply due to the habit taking us back? Sitting upright and poised does not have to be an effort in fact it is natural and easy when you know how. The Alexander Technique develops an understanding of how we are designed to function, which provides us with the skills required to go about our daily lives with ease.
The Alexander Technique is being implemented into education in a number of schools with positive results enhancing learning performance and well being. Take a look at the video below to learn more.
